Itinerary
4-Day Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru Safari Program
Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara
Morning
- Depart from Nairobi early in the morning, preferably by road (approximately 5-6 hours) or take a short flight to Maasai Mara (about 1-1.5 hours).
Afternoon
- Arrive at your lodge or camp in the Maasai Mara, check in, and have a hearty lunch.
- After lunch, embark on your first game drive in the Maasai Mara. Expect to see the Big Five and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
Evening
- Return to the lodge for dinner.
- Enjoy an evening at leisure, perhaps listening to the sounds of the African savannah.
Day 2: Full Day in Maasai Mara
Morning
- Enjoy an early breakfast at your accommodation.
- Depart for a full-day game drive. With a picnic lunch, you can explore the reserve extensively, focusing on areas where wildlife is most abundant.
Midday
- Enjoy your packed lunch in a scenic location, taking in the stunning landscapes and wildlife around you.
Afternoon
- Continue to observe the wildlife and photography. If your visit coincides with the Great Migration (July to October), prioritize the river crossings and areas populated by wildebeests and zebras.
Evening
- Return to your lodge for dinner.
- Optional: Attend a Maasai cultural activity, such as traditional dancing or storytelling.
Day 3: Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru
Morning
- Morning breakfast at your lodge.
- Check out of your lodge and begin your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park (approximately 5-6 hours by road).
Afternoon
- Arrive at Lake Nakuru where you’ll check into your accommodation.
- Have lunch at your lodge.
Late Afternoon
- Go for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Look out for the unique pink flamingos, rhinos, and diverse birdlife in addition to the savannah wildlife.
Evening
- Return to the lodge for dinner, relax, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru to Nairobi
Morning
- Early breakfast at the lodge.
- Go for one last morning game drive in Lake Nakuru to maximize wildlife viewing opportunities.
Late Morning
- Return to the lodge, check out, and prepare for your journey back to Nairobi. If time allows, visit the viewpoint over Lake Nakuru for breathtaking views.
Afternoon
- Travel back to Nairobi (approximately 2-3 hours) in a private vehicle. Enjoy scenic stops along the way.
Evening
- Arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon. Depending on your schedule, you may have time for some lunch or a visit to local attractions before your departure.
