Day 1: Nairobi National Park Day Trip
Morning
- 7:00 AM – Breakfast. Start your day with a hearty breakfast. Choose a café or your accommodation, ensuring you have enough fuel for the day.
- 8:00 AM – Depart for Nairobi National Park. Transportation: If you are not driving, arrange a taxi, or use a ride-hailing service (like Uber or Bolt), or book a day tour that includes transport. Duration: The park is about a 30-minute drive from the city center, depending on traffic.
- 8:30 AM – Arrive at Nairobi National Park. Entry Point: Visit the main gate (Bona Kenya Gate) to purchase your entry ticket. Ticket Prices (2023): Resident rates (KSh 1,050 for adults and KSh 500 for children) and non-residents (USD 43 for adults and USD 22 for children, prices subject to change, check before your visit).
- 9:00 AM – Morning Safari Drive. Explore the park on a self-drive (if you have a vehicle) or hire a guide/vehicle from a reputable tour operator. Keep your eyes peeled for the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros). Notable Spots: The Nairobi Animal Orphanage and the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (for orphaned elephants).
Midday
- 12:00 PM – Visit the Giraffe Center. Head to the Giraffe Center, which is nearby (around a 20-minute drive). Here, you can feed and interact with endangered Rothschild’s giraffes and learn about conservation efforts. Entry Fee: Approximately KSh 1,500 for adults and KSh 1,000 for children (again, check for updated fees).
Afternoon
- 2:00 PM – Head back to the hotel.
